Midland’s Population Sign claims 16,000 people live in town. Nearby Penetanguishene has 9300, Tiny Township has 10,700 and Tay township has 9700, according to the 2006 census.

In Midland itself, I estimate that about 2,000 could be attending worship fairly regularly at one of the dozen churches, and that is a generous estimate. Some of those folks drive from other areas. If they were all from Midland, there would still be about 14,000 people disconnected from any Christian church. Being disconnected from church is not the same as being disconnected from Jesus, but, for many of them, it is. Somehow, I wish I could hear from them. I’d like them to tell me what my church can do, from their perspective, to help them reconnect.

I know that’s a little like a doctor asking a patient to give him or her the diagnosis … but the patient is already motivated to see the doctor … what can motivate a disconnected person to try to connect to Jesus? To a church? How can we help you?

I suppose it’s a stretch to think that any of the disconnected people will actually read this blog … but if you do … can you help me help you?
