The other day I was reading through Revelation 5, thinking about the worthiness of Christ, the Lamb of God.

I read verse 11 “Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12In a loud voice they sang: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” (NIV)”, and then I came to verse 13 “Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” (NIV)”.

Now I’m prepared for Heaven to be a place of a very different kind. But, that description – singing fish, praising birds, honouring animals – that sounds a lot more like Narnia than Earth. Sure, I know you cannot build a doctrine on a single verse. But. This verse, among others, really emphasizes the “other-ness” of heaven.

Personally, I’m looking forward to it. I’m sure that the presence of the Father on the Throne, the Lamb and the Spirit will be so enthralling that all of our attention will gravitate, focus, there. But … I’m also looking forward to the singing fish …
